Accessibility

Retro Launch is designed to be usable by everyone. We support the following macOS accessibility features.

VoiceOver

Full screen reader support with labeled controls and navigation.

Voice Control

Navigate and launch apps using voice commands.

Dark Interface

Native dark appearance that follows your system preference.

Differentiate Without Color Alone

UI elements use shapes and labels in addition to color for clarity.

Sufficient Contrast

Text and controls meet contrast requirements for readability.

Reduced Motion

Animations are simplified or removed when Reduce Motion is enabled.

VoiceOver

Retro Launch provides full VoiceOver support throughout the app. Every interactive element is labeled, and the app grid can be navigated using standard VoiceOver gestures and keyboard commands.

Voice Control

With macOS Voice Control enabled, you can open Retro Launch, search for apps, and launch them using spoken commands. All buttons and interactive elements are accessible by name.

Dark Interface

Retro Launch uses a dark interface by default, featuring a frosted glass overlay that adapts to your wallpaper. The dark design reduces eye strain in low-light environments and is consistent with the macOS dark appearance.

Differentiate Without Color Alone

When "Differentiate Without Color" is enabled in System Settings, Retro Launch ensures that no information is conveyed by color alone. UI elements include shapes, icons, and text labels to remain distinguishable.

Sufficient Contrast

All text and interactive elements maintain sufficient contrast ratios against backgrounds. App labels, search text, folder names, and controls are clearly readable against the dark overlay.

Reduced Motion

When "Reduce Motion" is enabled in System Settings, Retro Launch adjusts its behavior:
